Groups

What you are going through is universal, and you are not alone.

Group therapy through Equinox Counseling and Wellness Center offers individuals a way to come together and share common challenges, work on common goals, and remind each other they are not alone. Whether for youth or adults, the group setting is designed as a place for each person to gain insights into their own process by working with others through either discussion or therapeutic activities. In a safe and supportive setting, group members can explore, experiment, and practice new behaviors without the fear of failure or judgement.

We believe in creating lasting individual change with the support of both professionals and peers in a positive and safe group experience. We offer a variety of groups to enhance the opportunity for you to find the right experience, including groups for youth and teens, adults, and individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and/or High-Functioning Autism or Asperger’s.

Learn by sharing and doing

When we feel something, it becomes meaningful. The group therapy process at Equinox Counseling and Wellness not only includes important discussions around group concepts, but also values fun, engaging, and challenging activities as part of the group experience. Our groups often incorporate getting up, moving around, being in the outdoors, working with others, and experiencing emotions that increase learning and engagement.

Troubled Teen Groups

Teen group therapy focused on issues of substance abuse, relapse prevention, behavioral stabilization, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, self-image and failure to launch. Groups utilize an experiential approach with outdoor/ adventure venues and are led with expert facilitation to engage teens in their own change process that promotes communication, accountability, personal responsibility, and important skills for a sustained substance free lifestyle.

Parent Support Groups

Equinox offers our parent groups as a place to receive support from other parents and caregivers who have similar experiences in raising children living with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADD/ADHD, and other social/learning differences. Support focuses on your needs and feelings as a parent, provides opportunity to join a community of caring people, and is a place to connect with other adults who understand. Having a compassionate place to share challenges and successes is a valuable asset to the parenting journey.

ASD Life and Social Skills Groups

Our group activities for middle and high school age youth living with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADD/ADHD, and other related learning/social differences help build friendships and create belonging. Through club-like activities and our Club EQ and EQ LIFE programs, youth have a chance to be themselves, laugh, play, and be involved with other kids they can relate to and share their interests. Along the way, they naturally learn and practice valuable social, coping, problem solving, and life skills.
